Wisconsin Restaurant Association Endorses 100% Smoke-Free Legislation

Good news today in Wisconsin worth sharing with you all. The Wisconsin Restaurant Association is now publicly supporting comprehensive smoke-free legislation. This is huge movement for them, last year they were hand-in-hand with the Tavern League pushing for preemption. The release indicates that the new position passed their board 36-1.

Here is the release from the Wisconsin Restaurant Association.

In another statement from a state restaurant association, Ronnie Hart, president and chief executive officer of the Tennessee Restaurant Association, said his organization does not oppose an across-the-board smoking ban in public areas. However, the group is against exemptions for bars.

"Is it fair for the guy with the 50-seat bar to have an advantage over a guy who doesn’t?" he said. "I don’t think it is. If we’re going to do it, let’s just make it all-inclusive."
