Demonstrate Grassroots Power - CALL Your Legislator in Support of SB 500
Next week marks the true beginning of the spring legislative session, as state legislators return to the state capitol and for the most part wont leave until the end of May.
We want to try to use this final week before the legislators return to the capitol to demonstrate the grassroots power of this movement, and encourage them to sign on in support of SB 500. Our volunteers that live in targeted areas will be getting an action alert in their email later today, but we want everyone to participate if possible. So here is what we would like you to do:
1) Track down the name & contact information for your legislator by going to this site and entering your home address
2) Call your state representative and state senator THIS WEEK and ask them politely to support 100% comprehensive smoke free legislation by becoming a co-sponsor of Sen. John Cullerton's Senate Bill 500 (SB 500)
3) After your conversation, take a moment to share your experience by adding your comments to this blog post, or emailing us at SmokeFree.Illinois@cancer.org
This is a great way to use our grassroots power to get results, and hold legislators accountable. Get involved, and have fun while you do it!
